Below are some photos from the last few months (before the Bazaar). Included are: folks at our Show & Tell sessions, artwork that was sold at the Bazaar, unloading the Pit Fired pieces, and CAC artists looking at the pit fired work. Never a dull moment! (See previous entry below for more on the September Pit Fire.)
We had a very busy September & October, gearing up for the Fall Bazaar that happened on November 4, 2017. It was a very good one, with lots of enthusiastic helpers working hard while having fun, and tons of wonderful ceramic pottery & sculpture to sell. And in the process we had record sales to benefit the club - a win-win! There are still a number of wonderful ceramic pieces for sale, so if you are in the area stop into our studio and check them out.

We had a really good Show and Tell last Friday, including more of the little ceramic vehicles. Also Mike, the official Rossmoor Photographer, came by yesterday and took more photos for the August 16 edition of the Rossmoor News. Most of the little cars & vans will be displayed in our studio's windows starting Monday, August 14 - everyone should come and check them out!
Note: The pictures below were taken by our own members (not Mike). We'll post one or more of Mike's photos in a week or two - stay tuned! We had a fascinating demonstration by Susan Barry at our first meeting of 2017 on January 11. As promised, the artist has just sent us photos of one of the tiles she was working on then - see below. The paler one shows how it looked before the final firing; most of the glaze painting was done as we watched. And of course the brighter picture is of the gorgeous finished piece. Note: that was the afternoon when our power went out, but Sue was a real trooper and went on with the show in the dim studio, lit only by CAC members' cell phone "flashlights." We kept on videotaping during that time too, with a view that had a rather Vermeer-like quality because of the side lighting. The DVD from that demo will be available soon so that any member of our club who wants to can take another look at the techniques the artist used to create her beautiful tiles. Below are a few snapshots of CAC activities since our last post. Lots has been happening, including two "Show and Tell"s and a new Orientation class which is due to end on Feb 2, after which we will welcome a batch of new members to the Ceramic Arts Club.
