Thanks to Judy Russell, Linda Mariano, and the entire Entertainment committee! Also to Fred Surh, Wendy Markel, and Judy R. (among others) for the photos.
We had a lot of fun, as you can see from the photos below - which are not in any particular order. Lots of games, line dancing, lively conversations, good food (those ribs were delicious) - what more could anyone want? It was a blast!

Email message sent to CAC members on May 26, 2024:
It’s time for the Final PIT FIRE Preparations! The last day to get your piece(s) ready for the Pit Fire is Tuesday May 28, by 6 pm. This means that you must have them all ready and placed on the marked table (in the front room) or one of the marked shelves in the back near the kiln room door. All of the materials for this prep work are still laid out on a back table in the front room of the Ceramic Studio. (They will be removed after 6 that evening.) _______________ The Pit Fire schedule: On Wednesday May 29, the pit will be loaded and fired. This will start at 9:30 am and finish around 11 am – 12:30 pm. On Friday May 31, the pit will be uncovered and unloaded, from 9:30 am to 10:30-11 am. This will be followed by a potluck lunch, starting around 11:30 am in the Ceramic Studio, which is open to all members of CAC, whether they've participated in the Pit Fire or not. Please sign up for the May 31 potluck on the list on the front table of the studio. Our one-and-only Orientation Class of 2022 started in mid May and ended on the 8th of June, when we welcomed 16 brand new members to the Ceramic Arts Club. As usual, Linda Mariano led the class, assisted by numerous other CAC volunteers. What a great group! Then on June 29 we had a marvelous Patio Party with a festive Mexican theme.
We had a wonderful Patio Party with a Hawaiian theme, organized by Linda Mariano and Mary Ann Stanley with the help of numerous other hard-working and enthusiastic volunteers. Kathy Jepson did a great job with the refreshments - lots of appetizers, finger-food, and desserts, plus wine, lemonade and sparkling water. Judy Russell was in charge of entertainment, including a Hawaiian themed Jeopardy game as well as music and dance courtesy of Rossmoor's Hawaii Club and the Ukulele Club. Quite a lot of our members even got up to learn a couple of hula dances, which was a lot of fun!
It was marvelous to celebrate with our members and their guests, after such a difficult time with the pandemic shut-down. Especially as we were about to have the studio shut down again to be remodeled. As you can see, everyone really enjoyed being together in person at last! Below are some photos of the festive event taken by various CAC folks who were there. You can also see a slideshow on YouTube that includes several video clips from the party. This is meant for our members only - it's not available to the general public. (Note: it runs about 7 minutes.) To watch it, click on this LINK: https://youtu.be/WCgH6MZ7oSc Our Patio Party was last week, Friday the 17th. Lots of fun! We had awards, flowers on every table, great company and delicious food - kudos to Sara Spence and Jean Chen for putting it all together so well! And then, as the cherry on top, there was live music & dancing, courtesy of Rossmoor's Recreation Department (this latter was for anyone at Rossmoor plus any guests); the band was Bee Gees Gold, a tribute band doing excellent versions of disco hits from the 60s thru the 90s. Many CAC folks (including my self) stayed and danced or listened & watched until around 8:30. The photos in the slideshow below were taken by our own Jean Chen, who is very talented in photography as well as ceramics! We had a wonderful celebration last evening, our annual Patio Party. This year we had an extremely entertaining Awards ceremony, complete with fun gag gifts for the awardees (who had to be present to win) - thanks to Sara Spence and Judy Johnson. In addition, pretty much everyone present was given a small beautifully glazed ceramic heart, created by our own CAC Studio Manager, Judy Johnson, in her spare time! Oh yes - we also had plenty of great Chinese food from Tomi Restaurant - kudos to Jean Chen and Sara Spence. Photos of some of the fun are below. In other news - next week our new fiscal year will begin: on Wednesday July 1, to be exact. If you haven't renewed your membership in CAC, now is the time to do so - before the end of July, if you plan to stay current, keep your locker, etc. Simply come to the studio and you'll find membership forms on the sign-in table. (Dues are $10 and lockers are another $10 - checks only, please!) Finally - our air conditioning hasn't been fixed yet, but at least the process has begun. No ETA yet, sorry to say. Stay tuned.. |
