Pit Fire Class #2 on June 1
The Ceramic Arts Club’s annual Pit Fire is coming soon! This exciting annual event is a celebration of the creativity of CAC members and the unique results of the Pit Fire process. The loading and firing of the pit will be on June 14, and the pit will be unloaded two days later, on June 16, followed by a pot-luck lunch in our studio.
As always, there is a lot of advance preparation before it happens, and the second session of the Pit Fire Class on “Preparation of Bisque Fired Pieces for Pit Fire,” will be held on Thursday June 1, from 1 to 2:45 pm, This is open to all CAC members - and anyone who has never done Pit Fire with us before is required to attend the workshop if they want to be part of it! The fee is $10, which is refundable after it is completed. Members must sign up for the second session on the bulletin board in the Ceramic Studio and pay for the class with a check to the CAC, to be deposited in the silver box on the front table.
Pit Fire Master Patty Taylor, along with others on the Pit Fire team, will demonstrate and teach everything about preparing already bisqued ceramic pieces for the Pit Fire.
NOTE: After the above mentioned class is over, the materials needed for the final preparations before the Pit Fire will be left out on a table (or two) in the Ceramic Studio, for all members to use on their own. There will also be a "Pit Fire Final Workshop" on Monday June 12 from 1 to 5 pm. It'll be rather informal - members are invited to drop in during those hours if they'd like help in getting their pieces ready for the pit. Patty Taylor and other members of the Pit Fire team will be available to advise and assist. (The loading and firing of the Pit will be just two days after that!)

ORIENTATION CLASS: AUGUST & SEPTEMBER

The dates for people to sign up for this class are June 27, 28, and 29. (No one is allowed to sign up before those dates.) If more people sign up than there is space for, participants will be chosen by lottery, in order to be fair to everybody.
