Narrative Sculpture Class with Suzanne Long
- Four Thursdays in September - the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th -
Bay Area artist, sculptor and teacher Suzanne Long will be giving a Narrative Sculpture Class for CAC members beginning on September 5 and continuing on September 12,19 and 26. The class will be from 10:00am to 2:00pm each day. This class is a hands-on experience open to all skill levels. Suzanne will cover the basics of hand-building with a focus on developing your personal narrative through clay. The artist will demonstrate building with coils and the development of the form from the interior and exterior, as well as glazing, incorporating painterly and graphic techniques, sgrafitto, and image transfer.
The class is limited to the first 15 people who sign up, and is expected to fill up quickly. The cost is $90 per person until August 28th, and $105 after that date. Sign-ups are currently being taken in the Ceramic Studio. CAC members may sign up on the list posted on the bulletin board next to the kitchen in the studio, and then place their check in the silver box on the front table.
Note: This class is now filled. However members can still add their names to the waiting list (but do not leave a check unless you hear from us that a place has become available).

Wheel Throwing Clinic in the Ceramic Studio on Tuesday Mornings
CAC currently has a free Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m., led by our own Gordon Ward. (NOTE: this was formerly held on Friday mornings.) The focus is on clay preparation, throwing and/or trimming (plus other related skills) and help or advice will be given if requested.
This is open to any of our members who have taken at least a beginning level throwing class. It is based on first come, first served because of space limitations in the Wheel Room - eight attendees are the maximum.
Gordon plans to conduct this Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning at the same time for the foreseeable future (except when he is out of town or unavailable for some other reason, in which case this will be posted on the white board that's attached to Damp Closet #4 in the Wheel Room). Many thanks to Gordon for volunteering his time & expertise!
