Portrait Sculpture Class in June
Bay Area sculptor Sandy Frank will be giving a four session Portrait Sculpture Class beginning on Wednesday June 5 and continuing on June 12, 19, and 26. The class will be from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm each day. Sandy will guide participants through the process of building a portrait sculpture, creating facial details, and the beauty of both realistic and abstract forms. Most artists tend to shy away from the complexity of the human face, but Sandy has developed an easy approach using anatomical form, proportions, with some simple techniques you can learn to get the best results. An experienced art model will be present all four days.
The class is limited to 13 persons and is expected to fill up quickly. The cost is $145 per person until May 4, and after May 4 the cost will be $160. CAC members may sign up on the list posted on the Bulletin Board in the Ceramic Studio and deposit their check (made out to CAC) in the silver box on the front table.

Wheel Throwing Clinic in the Ceramic Studio on Tuesday Mornings
CAC currently has a free Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m., led by our own Gordon Ward. (NOTE: this was formerly held on Friday mornings.) The focus is on clay preparation, throwing and/or trimming (plus other related skills) and help or advice will be given if requested.
This is open to any of our members who have taken at least a beginning level throwing class. It is based on first come, first served because of space limitations in the Wheel Room - eight attendees are the maximum.
Gordon plans to conduct this Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning at the same time for the foreseeable future (except when he is out of town or unavailable for some other reason, in which case this will be posted on the white board that's attached to Damp Closet #4 in the Wheel Room). Many thanks to Gordon for volunteering his time & expertise!
