Pit Fire Class - Second Session will be on May 13
CAC will hold the second session of our Pit Fire Class following the General Meeting that starts at 1 pm on May 13. It will cover the final preparation of ceramic pieces, after they have been bisque fired. [Note: the Pit Fire will be done on May 28, and the unloading of the pit will happen on May30, followed by a Pot-Luck Lunch in the Ceramic Studio.]
The class is free for CAC members and is led by Patty Taylor, Lucia Tsang, and Anne Shulenberger. Members must attend both sessions if they haven't done pit firing with CAC before, and want to participate this time. Returning members are also encouraged to attend, as a refresher.

Sculpting Hands Class - taught by Bay Area sculptor Sandy Frank
We are excited to welcome back Bay Area award-winning artist Sandy Frank for a class on Sculpting Hands in June. The class will take place on four Wednesdays - June 4, 11, 18, and 25 - from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM each day. Sandy will guide participants through the intricate process of building a sculpture, covering structure, hand details, and the beauty of both realistic and abstract forms. Many artists shy away from sculpting hands due to their complexity, but Sandy has developed an accessible approach using anatomical forms, proportions, and simple techniques to achieve remarkable results. An experienced hand and art model will be present for all four sessions.
This sculpture class is limited to 13 participants, and it is expected to fill up quickly. Sign-ups are available now, on the Studio Bulletin Board. The cost is $145 per person until May 8, or $160 after May 8. CAC members should place checks (made out to CAC) in the silver box on the front table to secure their spot. Don’t miss this opportunity to refine your sculpting skills under expert guidance!

Wheel Throwing Clinic in the Ceramic Studio on Tuesday Mornings
CAC currently has a free Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning from 9:30-11:30 a.m., led by our own Gordon Ward. The focus is on clay preparation, throwing and/or trimming (plus other related skills) and help or advice will be given if requested. This is open to any of our members who have taken at least a beginning level throwing class. It is based on first come, first served because of space limitations in the Wheel Room - eight attendees are the maximum.
Gordon plans to conduct this Wheel Throwing Clinic every Tuesday morning at the same time for the foreseeable future (except when he is out of town or unavailable for some other reason, in which case this will be posted on the white board that's attached to Damp Closet #4 in the Wheel Room). Many thanks to Gordon for volunteering his time & expertise!
