We had a small but lively group at Show & Tell yesterday. The highlight was Elaine's witch and cat, a work in progress. She had just painted the unfired piece with underglaze. It's now in the kiln, and I expect we'll get to see it (finished) in the October window display, since the theme is to be Halloween!

Last weekend we unveiled the almost 100 ceramic pieces we'd made to celebrate Rossmoor's 50th Anniversary, and we had an Open Studio for both days. Below is a photo of the display as it was laid out the day before, and also some pictures of CAC members showing their own work over the weekend. Many of the commemorative pieces were sold, making a tidy sum for our club!* Several of the participating members also did well, and it was overall a very successful endeavor.
It's also a good prelude to the yearly Rossmoor Fall Bazaar, when we will be offering some of best work done by our members, as a major fund-raiser for the Ceramic Arts Club. That will be happening on Saturday, November 1, from 9 am to 2 pm. Mark your calendar! *P.S. There are still several of the Rossmoor commemorative pieces available - feel free to come into the studio to browse and shop any time! New window display: Animals! Plus a look at the new Rossmoor 50th Anniversary ceramic dishes, etc.9/10/2014 Here are our new window displays - they look much better in person, due to the glass reflections that happen in photographs. As you can see, our theme this time is Animals, and we have quite a sculptural menagerie: horses, goats, dogs, cats, mice, birds, etc. (Click on the images to see larger versions of them.) Please come on down and check them out soon! This display will be up through the end of this month.. in early October we'll be on to something different.
Below are snapshots of just a few of the commemorative ceramic pieces our club's been busy making to celebrate Rossmoor's 50th anniversary. These and many others will be offered for sale during our Open Studio days on the weekend of September 20 & 21 - we'll be there from 9 to 4 each of those days - please stop by! And if any CAC member would like to show & sell his or her own work that weekend, come to the studio and sign up (it's free) - more info under Events on this website. Due to the popularity of our last Hand-Building workshop, there are going to be 3 mini workshops on the same line in the first half of October. These will be limited to 8 participants per session, with even more hands-on help from experienced members for those who need it - we'll have a lot of fun making holiday-related items! For more info, including dates & times, click on the Classes & Workshops tab under Events, above.
Meanwhile, here are some of the recent things happening (including a raku-firing and our last Show & Tell) at the CAC studio: |
